Maybe you are sleeping through the night but still waking up exhausted. Maybe your mood is harder to predict, your skin is changing, or you just do not feel quite like yourself lately. If any of this sounds familiar, you are not imagining it, and you do not have to simply live with it.
Perimenopause rarely announces itself. It shows up as a collection of small changes that are easy to explain away one at a time. The exhaustion gets blamed on a busy season. The mood gets blamed on stress. The skin gets blamed on a new product. The periods that are not what they used to be get a shrug.
Put them together and they tell a clearer story. Perimenopause is a natural stage of life, but that does not mean every change has to be confusing, uncomfortable, or something you learn to live with.
The Changes That Get Waved Away
The concerns we hear most often from women in this stage are consistent. Constant exhaustion that sleep does not fix. Mood swings, hot flashes, low libido, and weight gain. Feeling less sharp, forgetful, and unfocused. Doing everything right and finding that your body will not respond. New or worsening anxiety and irritability. Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking rested.
Each of those on its own is easy to dismiss. Many women have already been told that their labs are normal. But being told your labs are normal is not the same as being told you are fine. A result can sit inside a reference range and still be nowhere near where you function best.
Where the Conversation Starts
At MK Aesthetics, our Medical Wellness approach starts with a conversation. We take the time to understand what you are experiencing, what you want to feel differently, and what your goals are.
For some women, that means talking through changes associated with perimenopause and menopause. For others, it means focusing on energy, sleep, body composition, or other aspects of how they are feeling as they move through this stage of life. There is not one plan that works for everyone, and there is not one definition of what feeling your best looks like.
What We Actually Look At
Before we recommend anything, we find out what is actually happening. The starting point is our Hormone Optimization Evaluation and Lab Panel, which is two appointments about a week apart.
The first is a comprehensive lab draw. It takes about 15 minutes, no fasting required, and it goes well past a routine physical: hormones, thyroid function, vitamin levels, and metabolic markers, the indicators that explain how your body is functioning rather than just confirming you are not sick.
The second is a 45-minute medical evaluation with your Nurse Practitioner, in clinic or virtual, after your results have already been reviewed against your history and your symptoms. Your story, your symptoms, and your results finally sit in the same room, and that is where they become a plan.
What a Plan Might Include
Depending on what your labs and your symptoms show, recommendations may include bioidentical hormone therapy, peptides, targeted supplements, lifestyle guidance, or further testing. Ongoing monitoring is part of it, with follow-up labs and dose adjustments, because a first protocol is a starting point and not a final answer.
And if we do not think you need what you came in asking about, we will tell you that. The goal is to better understand what is happening in your body and have an informed conversation about options that may support you.
Quick Reference: Starting Medical Wellness
Step one: Comprehensive lab panel. About 15 minutes, no fasting required.
Step two: 45-minute medical evaluation about a week later, in clinic or virtual.
Cost: $575 for both visits. Treatment beyond the evaluation is priced to your individual plan.
May lead to: Bioidentical hormone therapy, peptides, targeted supplements, lifestyle guidance, or further testing.
Who it is for: Anyone who feels exhausted, off, or like something has shifted, especially if you have been told your labs are normal.
You Do Not Have to Wait
You do not have to wait until something feels overwhelming to start the conversation. Sometimes, taking care of yourself starts with simply asking, "Is this normal?"
If you are experiencing changes and are not sure where to start, our Medical Wellness team is here to help you understand your options and determine what may make sense for you. Book a consultation at MK Aesthetics in Minnetonka, or request one and we will reach out.
